If you have a dead battery?

Connect a battery charger to the alternator (you can only connect the positive to the screw on the alt. connect the ground to a bolt on top of the strut tower) There is no emergency truck opener anywhere in the car...

RE: If you have a dead battery?

You usually can open the trunk with the blade key also, some models you have to turn the lock and some you have to turn the lock and press the tumber up.(mechanically opening)

RE: If you have a dead battery?

I have also taken a jump box, grounded it, placed a flat head on the positive cable and placed it into the fuse box under the hood. It powered up the door lock so I could get in the car. Never really thought about the alt., sounds like that will work also with less chance of damage.

RE: If you have a dead battery?

The problem is when the battery is completely dead sometimes the trunk will not open mechanically with the key,so you have to some how get some voltage into the vehicle.

RE: If you have a dead battery?

Sam,

So what you are saying is its best to keep a trained monkey in the trunk that can push the child release from inside? :) LOL

I get it, makes perfect sense. BTW My service adviser had told me once, that theres a place in the engine compartment to jump as well. I never found it. Is that what this thread is talking about??

Thanks

Sarv

RE: If you have a dead battery?

I've jumped it by hooking to the battery in the trunk with no problem.

Well, my battery is dead and my trunk wont open. I have tried the suggestions listed on this page except for hooking up a battery charger to the alternator. Before i attempt to do something like that (novice), I wanted to know if there was any other possibilities. Is there access to the trunk through the back seats? I could really use some other options to get in there.. Thanks in advance for your help.
