1999 w220 s500 airmatic question for frank

We just replaced both front shock absorbers for our w220 but the right now the car stands abit higher on the right side. When you start the car is does not rise. The car would only rise if you press the switch. Unlike the other w220 that I have come across the car woulld rise abit as soon as you start the engine. What is wrong with my w220? We also replaced the air pump found behind the front bumpers. We checked rear shocks for leaks and there are none. Can some tell me exactly how the airmatic suspension functions.

Frank, where can I buy repair kits from the shock absorbers and how much are they?

you might need to perform a calibration for the airmatic system, but normally replacing the shocks will not impair the level. Fault can be sen in the actual value of the airmatic system lever sensor voltage. and during calibration if the values is incorrect, probably you have a problem with one of the level sensor.

How do we calibrate the airmatic? Is it by using star diagnostics? My workshop does not have star.. they use carsoft.

Completely agree with BB.

You have to visit a MB workshop with stardiagnosis.
Both, calibration and, if required, sensor replacement shouldnt take long.

(Leakage test was done already ?)

Cheers, Frank
