I have '00 S430 with about 70k miles. Nice and sweet machine. I used to drive 1995 S320 for a while until electrical system pushed me to junk this car. :(
Since this vehicle (S430) has a phone package installed (except the phone itself) I am curious if anyone knows how to adopt it to my T-Mobile Motorola V330 VSW. Are there any kits available?
The MB deaelr was not to helpful. Offered me an old junky phone.
I have a S430 as well and I found this company that makes bluetooth adapter kits for the S-class. The 2000 S-class is setup for the old analog style phones. What this kit does, is it plugs into the control unit in the trunk and all you need is a bluetooth enabled phone and it will work. You can recieve and make phone calls, you can view your phone book. It's really a neat package. Heres the URL:
I decided to go with a MIKBOX. I placed an order and three days later received a USPS package. So finally on July 4th I decided to place all pieces together.
I have Motorola V330 phone (T-Mobile). TO replace the cradle it took me about 15 minutes - most of the time spent preparing an additional cut for the antena connector - sticking a bit further than the original.
Next 20 to 30 minutes took me to install the MIKBOX in the trunk.
Before I put the cover back I tested the CD, Radio and the phone [:)] it worked [:)]
All worked great. One thing however is still not clear yet. I can not download the phonebook from the phone to the Command System.
Also realized the antena is weaker than the phone itself - I had a warning about it while purchasing the unit. It may require a bypass for the antena or a new unit for the antena. Not sure what to do with it yet. I placed a support note at MIKBOX last night.
Anyway, the good news is: my T-Mobile works with Command System [:)]
Since you have a '00, it is likely you have a single-band linear compensator and a single-band antenna switch. If so, you are not getting the benefit of all of your phone's reception capability; you're only getting the low band, not the upper band that your phone likely has.
Check out http://forums.mbnz.org/publications/pub.asp?id=317 - which includes a discussion of this problem and tells you what to do.
The indications that your phone book has downloaded are that the words "phone book" at the bottom of your COMAND telephone screen go from gray to black after download; and you can scroll through the numbers on the instrument cluster display when you select "tel" on that display. If this isn't happenng, e-mail MIK. He is very responsive and helpful. If there is a delay in response, it is because he is traveling out of the country.

Finally I have it working.
THats right that some features do not work on this version of PSE [:(] but the most important: phonebook works just fine. The problem I had was related to the phonebook location. SInce I am using T-Mobile, I have a SIM card and all my contacts were saved there. As soon as I moved them into the Phone , the Phonebook appeared on the screen [:)]
The attached are pictures from my working V330 T-Mobile phone in my S430. Thansk to all of you who participated in this project and provide help to the rest of us :)
