I am debating whether to buy now or wait for an 07. What do you think will be different in the 07? Do you think buying the new model in its first year is wise. When is the scheduled release of the 07?
Based upon all of the posts that you can read here for yourself, there is no way I would buy a new model MB. The current S class had loads of problems back in 2000 when it was first introduced - especially the ones built in late '99. MB gradually improved the model each year thereafter. There are many posts in this forum regarding quality. I'd be careful. I own a 2001 S430 and have had my share of problems with it. To date none have been major but the car has been in the shop numerous times. All repairs were made under factory warrenty and I have to say that my local dealer has been fantastic. I also bought an extended warrenty just in case. Best of luck with your decision.
the 2007 w221 class is completely redesigned and is larger, and wider and faster than the current w220 class. it will be available for purchase in late fall/ early winter 05. numerous spy photos flying around the internet indicate the design leans towards a mix of the maybach and the cls class. the interior also appears to be very bmw 7-series with an 'i-drive' type controller in the center console.
i bought a 2006 (instead of waiting for the newly redesigned 2007) s500 for the exact reason as posted above: first year reliability. run away! run away! benzo has ruined their reputation as to quality with respect to new model introduction, and whilst all literature suggests that benzo will have fixed these first year gremlins with the introduction of this new s-class, i (personally) wouldn't take the chance.
