In my search I came across the BenzWorld forum and I hope I get some useful feedback.
I have started a search for a 2000-2001 S500 (must be black on black)and came across a very clean 2000. The seller is asking 45k with 60,000 miles, he is the second owner, whom appears to be very meticulous. It has a full Brabus package....is this reasonable? should the search continue for a lower mileage car?
Also, since this will be my first Mercedes and I have heard so much as to the reliability, how many miles can I truly expect for the life of the car?
In my humble opinion, stay away from model year 2000. It was the first production year and had a world of glitches which you will be none too thrilled with.
Look for an 01, it wont cost much more, and in the long run will save you tons in repair costs.
Life of the vehicle...I'm no expert but if you find an S500 that was very well maintained....and you will maintain it correctly, I dont see why it wont last you 150,000 miles plus! These cars are built to last, unless they are mistreated.
Also, $45,000 for a 2000 S500 with 60k mileage seems a little high...even with the Brabus package. (unless engine upgrades are the case hehe.
Dunno, I could be wrong but i'd keep looking.
Black on Black is nice :) Classic!
Keep us posted, and if anyone has any further suggestions for "newbie" :)
IMHO MY00 (i.e. 2000 model year) is a "stay away" model, unless you don't care about repair costs, etc.
Yet, $45K on 60k mi for MY00 S500 - way too high.
Got mine MY01 S500 AMG Sport FULLY loaded (see my sig) but w/o Brabus and with 45k miles for $45k 9 months ago...
Good luck.
Keep us posted plz.
