Programming Key Fob

Guys,

I have a 2000 s430 that I recently bought. It only came with one key fob and I'm interested in purchasing another.

I'm looking at some used key fobs for pennies on the dollar and wanted to know (before I purchase) what is involved with programming the key for my car.

Thanks in advance for your responses.

RE: Programming Key Fob

Buy new one from the dealer ... I went through this "used" stuff with key ... ended up cost $10 more than the new one!

RE: Programming Key Fob

Yeah, go with the new one. I bought 2 keys on eBay ($90+ including shippings), then I had to run to three different places (on rush hour traffics) to have the keys cut (for $50 both). The dealer charged me one hour labor to program one key and told me the other key was not working. Now I have one used key and one key that only opens the door (manually) for over $200. Dealer sells brand new key for my SL500 for only $190 ... [:(]
