Crackling Noise under Car

Hi,

Does anyone know what this could be?

when i step on the gas, while parked, or while driving..... i hear a crackling noise.it is very apparent that something is crackling while stepping on the gas. What could it be? I am going to take the car tomorrow to mercedes Manhattan because I don't even know how safe this is.

PS - I use ONLY 93 octane gas.

Possible heat expansion in the steel of the muffler. It was very common in BMW's in the 70's.


Or possible problem with catylitic converters.

actually - it was the catalytic converter..... id love to know how it broke? new part coming on monday !
