Need help for changing fuel filter and cabin filter...
I just send my car to MBZ dealer for B-service.
The dealer charged me for $795+tax. They also told me that I need to replace my fuel filter and carbin filter. The MBZ dealer asked for additional $177 to replace fuel filter and additional $335 to replace the cabin filter. I refused to let the dealer do these jobs and decided to do it myself.
I have purchased these parts from internet for less than $90. Can someone tell me where is the fuel filter and the carbin filter in my car?
I don't know if you found your filters by now, but I just saw your post and thought that I would see.
The cabin filters are located behind the glove box. Open the glove box and remove the screws (some are under the rubber plugs), then pull the glove box out. Disconnect the light plug. The filters are all the way to the back. Slide the locking bar up, then remove the cover. There should be two filters in there for you to replace.
Mine also has the charcoal filters under the dash. There are two of them also.
first off the cabin filters are included in the b service. all b services include the dust or cabin filters, on all cars. the fuel filter is extra though
now they may have said the charcaol filters which is also not included in the b service
The cabin filters are an easy DIY, I have not done the charcoal filters. The fuel filter is located on the tight rear frame rail completely covered , this did not seem so easy and if I had a lift I would have tried. I got my local shop who works on all Euro brands to do the fuel filter for $50 or so labor. If you do it, make sure you pull the fuel pump fuse to depressurize the system, otherwise fuel may spray everywhere.
