S55 or S600?

Both about the same price. Which one would you guys get?

I think there is already such a thread. There are two of them in the R230 forum, you could read up on those, opinions differ. Some people prefer the better handling and braking of the AMG, and some prever the torqueier, smoother, V12. Depends on the desires of the customer. Get an S65 or S SV12 if you want those combined.

In my opinon, I would buy the S55, for the money you get better suspension more prestiges and better preformance exhaust,plus the car itself looks better with the AMG subtle changes,But thats just my opinon.

Hey there. Good topic and I always spend free time thinking about this hard question. I haven't really decided yet and I don't think I'll ever be able to decide. But the major difference is the V12 or the V8. I'll take both! I have a question, why does the S430 have a 7-speed, but the SL65, SL600, S55, S600 don't use it?

Because the internals of the new 7 speeds are so compact they can't handle all the torque of the AMG and V12 engines. The 5 speed has more room for bigger and sturdier parts.

Rumor has it it will be ready for 2006. Just a rumor though.

I would get an S55 AMG and then remove the V8 kompressor (sp?) badges and the S55 AMG badge to make it more subtle. I'd also throw in a Designo pack.

Doesn't the S600 have a different grille than other S class sedans?
