can someone help me? i want to install the euro navigation unit with the tv but will the navigation work in california. i have s500 2001 thanks for the help?
I want to ask you a question about your mercedes S-class . If you leave it unmoved for up to two weeks, will the battery still start the car? We just bought a new S55 and the battery (even a replaced battery) will not start the new if we leave it unmoved for 2 weeks, it will not start. At customer service they told us (after we bought the car) that the car had to be driven every 2 days for 30 minutes. Isn't that crazy, to spend $117,000 for a car that will not start. We have had this car for about three months and we have had to have it jump-started 6 times. We are being careful to start the car every day and let it run for a while to charge the battery. My husband is not doing anything about this, just so he won't raise his blood pressure, but mine seems to go up because we are not doing anything about it. Would anyone write me an opinion on a new car that has to be started every 2 days and run for 30 days. Thanks
that's not true because i left my car without driven for 2 months and when i came back from vecation i started the car and it just started without anything. This is my first time hearing about this and that's not true. Call your MB dealer and told them to come and pick up their stupid car because Mercedes has no right to do that. r u in california?
Note the correct spelling, lest we drive the newbie nuts.
joeardis, a reasonably good battery should be able to statr your car after 90 days of not being run. You have a short somewhere, or some piece of equipment isn't shutting down when it should.
Artur, direct your question to Steve@MBNZNL, Scorchie, or Sunman. You'll find them with a quick search.

I can't take it any more. Don't ANY of your people know how to read? The word is COMAND with one "M". It stands for 'Cockpit Management and Data.
We are all a little smarter now,thanks.[8D]
In regards to the S55 that will not start, have you ever taken the vehicle to the dealer ? or has roadside assistance always assisted you ? Your vehicle most likely has excessive current consumption on your battery.(something is draining your battery) Do you leave your key in the car ? if so dont. Best advise is to take vehicle in for service.
Hope this helps,
Sam

That sounds so stange! My wife and I have two MBs here in Bangkok and we have two in America. So, we regularly leave the cars alone for up to three months at a time while we are at our other home.
With respect to our 500SL in the States I just unhook one battery cable when we leave...and it always starts when we return. As to the SL55AMG I have done nothing as it has two batteries (one for starting and one for service). I am hoping that it will start when we get back as there will have been no drain on the 'starting' battery. As the car is new and this is the first time I have done this I am keeping my fingers crossed.
As to our two Bangkok MB's I have a friend start them once a week and let the engine run for 5 minutes. This has worked well.
With many newer Mercedes models after disconnecting the battery you will have to reset many of the electronic limits and features - the ESP, seats, moon roof, windows, steering wheel. This is in addition to resetting other memory. On non-COMAND-equipped cars, you may have to reset your radio codes, and certainly your stations.
