i read and seen many sy pics of the new s class or codename w221, and im not impressed with the front look. i dont believe in autospies, cuz they lie.

i have an 2000 S500
fully loaded except wooden trim on my steering wheel and park assistance
i plan to get a new S after the current generation is over. I was planning to get the Lexus Ls430, but the interior looks very bland and remind me too much of my old 1997 toyota avalon. if the new s class isnt impressive inside and out, i might haveta to buy the new lexus LS500...if thats for real.
i am still under warranty, and i had problems with the navigation ( in the dealership being fixed as of now), and the steering wheel would also tilt up by itself. My warranty is almost over and if these problems still occur in the future, i might haveta trade it for a newer ls430. I thought benz would have good quality for their cars but im not totally impressed anymore. The new S class better improve!
i understand where your are coming from. i had a 92 s500 and it was a great car, never let me stranded as with my 82 300 td with over 250k. I also have a 00 s500 and I think the mercedes image is slowly fading away. in the 80s and 90s mercedes were so far away from the competition now the 00s everybody caught up and i think in a few years will be passing mercedes. I think that mercedes is living on the wealth of its name brand. I also think that the wealth is fading away too.
I also understand where you are coming from. I have been the owner of a 2003 S55 for 3 months. If you buy a mercedes, please ask before you buy if the battery will hold a charge and how long. Now I am been told that I must drive my car 30 minutes every 2-3 days for the battery to hold a charge. I have had it jump- started 6 times and it is dead in the garage now. An expensive (or even cheap) car should not do that, right? I am taking it to the second dealer next week. PLEASE ASK BEFORE YOU BUY
