I am Having Problems with my S430... PLEASE HELP !

PLEASE HELP !

I have a 2000 S430 w/61k miles.

1)My Drivers Side Door does not suck-in (vacum) as the others due. What can I do and where do I look? It just feels like a BMW on the drivers side door and that scares me...

2)My Stereo is Freeking me out as well. It just power off while I was on the freeway. I turned it on and had it on for a Few minutes that it turned off again and never came back on. I start the car next day and it works. THis is weird...

What do I do & Where do I start?

Please Help..,

-Michael

You should work on finding an independent Mercedes repair shop. Get to know the people. Check what they are working on. If they don't work out, move on until you find a good one. Once your out of warrenty, you need an option over the MBZ dealer.

For those who have found an independant mercedes repair shop, how much does it save you. The dealer charges $99/hr for labor, what do the independants charge?

RE: I am Having Problems with my S430... PLEASE HELP !

I am paying $65 an hour for my Benz Doctor. He has been working on Benz's for eighteen years and his whole family drives Benz's. I also get a deal on the parts. I have the ability to go into the shop anytime they are working on one of my Benz's, and review the work in progress in detail. I am saving a good portion on repair work, and on the A & B services. The best part is I have developed a personal relationship with the owner and his assistants. I have the same guys working on my cars everytime. Now lets look at the dealer. Maybe I get to know the service guy over time. As to who is working on the car that day, its a crap shoot as to what mech does the work outa of the 30 or 40 they have on that shift that morning. A lot of these benz dealers have their mechs working on commission, so they are looking for anything to fix, even if it really doesn't need it [and if you think othewrwise, I have a Bridge I would like to sell you]. As to going into the shop and talking with the mech, forget it, no way, you park your ass in the lobby and drink coffee.

RE: I am Having Problems with my S430... PLEASE HELP !

Don’t get me wrong here. The Benz dealers have their place. While the car is under warranty, they are your best friends. The fact is, these new Benz’s are electronic computerized beasts. I consider the 220 sedan an absolutely gorgeous design for a sports sedan. There’s nothing like it, and I would not want a BMW or Jag. I do wish that MBZ would take a new direction [ala Porsche] and produce a true sports sedan. With this, ditch all the problematic extra electronics [like who really needs a dual zone AC unit and the other pile of options I myself don’t care about]. This would put a Benz on the road that would be free of the many headaches the miles of extra wiring and circuits create. Just give us a great design, a drop dead interior, a top of the line sound system and the motor we all want. That’s what the S55 should have been all about [an eletronically stipped down super beast of a Benz]. If they put something out like that, there would be a year waitng list to get one

By the way M-Brabus, great fleet of Benz’s you have there.
