This is my first time posting here and like to thanks all for the information regarding to this car. Well, I will have to make the decision this week on the S430 that I see today. The gentleman is asking for $39,000 for this vehicle. This is a 2001 model, black color with black interior. I like to know is this the right price??. The car is in the decent condition. Is there anything that I should look into this car??. Is there any known problem with this model year. Oh by the way, the car has 51,000 mile on it. Thank you very much.
Well by 01 most of the bugs of the new S were worked out. There were quiet a few bugs with the 00 models. Anyways, I think that is a fair price by my own judgement. I saw a 01 S430 with 23,000 miles on it, they wanted 44,000 for it. It had the Xenon lights, heated front seats, and I think the cd changer in the trunk. Not sure what elese. Thats a very god deal there. Anways you are getting a pretty fair deal. If you dont mind the miles go for it.
Well most people say into the Hundreds of thousands of miles. Obviously there are things that need to be replaced once you reach a certain mileage but As long as you treat the car right it should run for quiet some time. Mercedes Benzes are very very reliable cars provided you take care of them. If you beat on it your gonna be seein alot of your service advisor.
As previously posted, it is all about how you treat your car. My friend has a 1989 Mercedes 300SEL and it has 197,000 miles on it. It was his father's car (bought brand new in 1988) and it runs perfectly fine. You really can NOT neglect these cars or you will spend hours in dispair as it is repaired.

My '01 S430 has 83,000 miles in the same color combo as you're considering. It's proven to be a great car with very few problems. At 60,000 miles I had the instrument cluster replaced; a seat sensor at 30,000; and a mass airflow sensor around 62,000. All was done under the Starmark Warranty. Again, I love the car and plan to buy another MB, soon.
Thats a good price at this date. You should always look at the vin sticker in the drivers door. It also states the date of production in Germany. These dates are much more important than the actual model year. There are 2000 S's with 10/98 production dates [at least that's the earlist I could find so far].
