Please help. My W220 S430 makes a thump sound inside the driver side front wheel area when I drive it over tiny bumps or if the roads is uneven. I can hear it on the driver's side only but the passenger side doesn't make noises.I just had all four shocks replaced a couple months ago?Any help will be appreciated!
I have exactly the same problem on 2001 W220 S320 CDI. Asked dealer to investigate on several occasions but no joy.
Did you have shocks replaced to try to rectify this?
What sort of mileages are we talking for shocks or sway bar links to be replaced?
Mine has 110000 mls and is still in warranty. The dealership wont accept there is a problem, says it is normal road noise.

I have a similar noise under the driver seat as you descrbed in my 2000 s430. I have been told by the dealer that struts hydrualic system all need replacement for a grand total of $3k.
Seems a little far fetched to me. I have a second opinion coming from a non dealer mercedes guy.
Did you resolve your issue and what have you concluded was the problem??
My problem was the sway bar. Loose on the driver side. Diagnosed by Metric Motors in Coos Bay Oregon. $200 to fix. The Mercedes Dealer in Eugene, Oregon wanted me to replace the front struts as well as the pnuematic pump for the suspension for a grand total of $3000. God, what a screw job that would have been.
Highly recommend this guy in Coos Bay if you are ever in the area.
