Installing Lowering Links

Can anyone provide a shop that has experience installing these links in the Southern/Central Nj, Philadelphia, or Delaware area?

I can't seem to find anyone who has done them locally. They all want to sell a lowering module instead and say with labor of installing the links that id be a few hundred close to the price of a module anyhow.Thoughts?

John the module is the better way to go to. While relatively expensive compared to links, they provide a more uniform ride height front to back and side to side.

Links on the other hand provide a ride height that is close but not as precise however more than close enough for me when you factor in cost. If you have already invested in the links, they can be self installed in less than an hour. My experience: The front took about 5 mins per side and the rear took about 20 mins..All done using a 18 inch flat head screwdriver.

If you can read and follow basic written instructions, you should be able to do this mod yourself.

You have to remember that when you lower the car with links, the AIRMATIC computer is still set to the calibrated ride height, and will try to keep the car at that height.

Happy Benzing!!!

i dont think so.
when you alter the input to the computer by shortening-expanding the links, the computer will change it accordingly.
the computer does not measure to the ground

That is wrong.

The links move the point from which the sensors measure the ride height lower. What the computer sees isnt any different, but because the sensor is now lower, the car needs to lower to send the same reading to the computer.

The lowering modules do exactly the same thing but electronically.

The computer says the car should normaly ride at 10mm The sensors send a level of say 10mm, the module intercepts the signal and sends 20mm to the computer so the airmatic moves a further 10mm down. Sensor now says 0mm but the module sends 10mm to the computer so the car is happy.

The only difference between the module and the links is.. the modules can be adjusted and defeated in car very easily, and also they have a saftey cut out of sorts that stops the car being lowered below a safe level.

With links its possible to get the car so low, that when you are driving at speed and the car drops further, you could be running with no air in the bags and the is running on the bumpstops.. messing up all the suspension geometery and making for a dangerous ride.

I have confirmed this with a couple of the popular module manufactureres.

If you set the links to a sensible level, there is no difference between the module and the links while driving.
