That is wrong.
The links move the point from which the sensors measure the ride height lower. What the computer sees isnt any different, but because the sensor is now lower, the car needs to lower to send the same reading to the computer.
The lowering modules do exactly the same thing but electronically.
The computer says the car should normaly ride at 10mm The sensors send a level of say 10mm, the module intercepts the signal and sends 20mm to the computer so the airmatic moves a further 10mm down. Sensor now says 0mm but the module sends 10mm to the computer so the car is happy.
The only difference between the module and the links is.. the modules can be adjusted and defeated in car very easily, and also they have a saftey cut out of sorts that stops the car being lowered below a safe level.
With links its possible to get the car so low, that when you are driving at speed and the car drops further, you could be running with no air in the bags and the is running on the bumpstops.. messing up all the suspension geometery and making for a dangerous ride.
I have confirmed this with a couple of the popular module manufactureres.
If you set the links to a sensible level, there is no difference between the module and the links while driving.
