K&N Filter for 2008 CLS550

Does anybody have any experience with these K&N Filters? A salesman at the local performance shop raved about their quality and how they let the engine "breathe" better, which "leads to increase in horse power and better performance overall". Do you think i should use them?

Also, can i replace air filters myself, or do i need to take the car to a mechanic?

they do flow marginally better, but at the cost of greater engine wear due to less filtering.

The performance difference is so minuscule you won't feel it.

Stick with the stock paper filter.
