Add an extra 20 horsepower to your CLS55/63

I recieved an email today from GPM preformance informing me about a new product. Its a carbon fiber airbox ( $2,675 ), which adds an extra 20 horsepower, and you can also add the carbon fiber intake tubes for $675 a pair.

GPM Performance 1 888 488 2028 ext. 250

I hope they make stuff for the 500 and 550 soon

I will be getting my supercharger next year, and right now Kleeman is the cheapest, and the most horsepower.

This info is from my own research, but please let me know if you guys know any thing different.

I can get 475 horsepower with the Kleeman supercharger/kompressor system, with an additional 25 to 30 if I get the headers.

This will put me in the 500 horsepower club

Sorry if this sound stupid.. what exactly does the air box do? since it cost $2675. i would assumed something sound that simple would cost less. and also the carbon fiber intake tube just for looks? it seems that this would be a good business to get into, if i manufacture the same product but charge alot less..

question:

if i can create the same product carbon fiber everything for alot less than these large name brand company, would anyone be interested?

i think the structure of the airbox is different from the OEM, which enhances the airflow in some way to create more horsepower, and the tubes are just for looks.

but I'm no expert, i just wanted to share info.

I've seen computer chips that add 10 horsepower cost $1000 +

I can say that being in the business to sell any kind of product for these cars should result in profit. $$$$$$$$

If I had a CLS 55, I would think about buying that, but thats comming from a guy that does things to his CLS that most people wont do, lol.

I would buy from you if it was cheaper, because i really like the look of carbon fiber. as long as the quality is good.

i am going to looking into that this weekend. i have a few friends that are in the business and maybe this can turn into something. i am sure the cost to produce is cheap, and that can transfer to a cheaper consumer pricing.

btw, your cls is super clean. since this is my daily driver, i havent put much effort into it. however i am going to start a new project on this car soon. looking into the wald kit. any other suggestion? i am even thinking about air-bagging it.

So you want to spend $3000+ for 20 HP gain? That is not a very wise investment as far as HP gain is concerned. I for one won't be to desperate to spend that kind of money for such minimal gain. $150 = 1 HP = ouch!

He is actually not doing it. he got a email from someone and was just sharing the information. but yes i agree, is not worth the mod for that price. thats why i am interested in looking into building something similiar but cheaper

I'm really looking into the KLEENAN supercharger, and I think I will spend the $10,000 on that product.

i was talking to a friend about my spending habits with my vehicles, and he told me that he drives a piece of crap, but he spends the same amount of money on his clothes and shoes. He just proved to me that we all have spending habits, but for different things.

That product was realeased two weeks ago by a company called Carbonio. I also read that the" profiled plenum with conical air splitter reduces turbulance and restrictions in inlet stream and increases peak air velocity at throttle body inlet.
Core composite layers of propietary alumina-ceramic fiber reduces inlet air temperature dramatically. observed temperature reductions of 30-35% hot vs. cold side at typical engine bay ambient temperatures."

Do we have a mechanic out there that can translate that ? lol lol lol

Thanks man !
I like the wald kit, but the rear bumper did not really do it for me. Still looks more aggresive, so go for it.

I had a very bad experience with a wald kit on my ML. the parts are fiber glass, so the wont fit perfect at first. You will need to do allot of sanding etc. to prep it for installation.

that kit really pissed me off, and i will never buy from Wald again, but they might have improved, so i really don't know how good the quality is with Wald right now.

My lorinser Kit fit like a glove, and i think brabus has good quality products. The kleeman front bumper looks very agressive, so check them out.

WOW !!! THANKS FOR THE HEADS UP. BUT I WAS READING ABOUT MOST BODY KIT FOR MY CAR, MOST DONT FIT SINCE I HAVE AMG KIT ON IT RIGHT NOW. NOT SURE WHAT I WANT TO DO, AND WHAT BUDGET I WANT TO SPEND, OR WHICH CAR I WANT TO UPGRADE. BUT IS A HARD DECISION BETWEEN THE CLS 55 UPGRADE OR MY E90 M5 UPGRADE. SO FAR THEY ARE BOTH STOCK, BUT I SEE MORE POTENTIAL FROM THE E90 M5. YOU CAN HAVE ALOT OF FUN WITH A V10 THAN YOU CAN WITH OUR 55. ANYHOW. THANKS FOR THE UPDATE.

FYI. I LIKE TO SPEND ON BOTH CARS AND CLOTHING. ESPECIALLY WATCHES.. SO YOU ARENT ALONE !!!
