i am very amused with the cls, i plan to shift my old car to cls, but seeing your threads it seems that their are alot of issue for a new car and im having 2nd tought about it. any advice would be appreaciate especially im coming from third world country. and we have only 1 dealership. and lets say their reputation of being snail in terms of service and high price on parts will definetly kill me. can anyone suggest anything. someone is also selling a 2nd hand which is so far i find it cheap but curios why it was sold for a cheap price. hmmm. any comment or suggestion guys. before i jump in. thanks in advance.
I've never seen a problem free car, but i can understand your concern with the lack of service in your country. My cls has been doing great, no problems. I would buy it, but drive it and dont abuse it.
Let me get this straight, you come into a forum of enthusiasts for a specific car model and ask "is it worth it?". Then suggest that there are "a lot of issues for a new car" without being any more specific.
I've been on this forum since buying a CLS550 last year and I have not had "a lot of issues" with my car other than 2 regular services and 1 warranty issue that was handled literally overnight by the dealer. I dropped it off at 4pm and it was ready at 8am the next day... try getting that kind of service at Porsche or Ferrari... or as a friend told me over dinner the other day "when the variable cam adjustor on my 430 Spyder failed, the dealer had the car for 2 months".
Nor have I seen other owners experiencing problems. There are issues around people not understanding how to use features, the bluetooth and tilt down mirrors are common and quations about upgrade issues, of which the most common are "what size tires and wheels should I get". There are few, if any, common mechanical or electronic issues and I would speculate that this model has benefited from MB's focus on quality in recent years more than any other model except the new S class.
The real problem I have with the "is it worth it" question is that it is so myopic. What is any car worth outside of what someone is willing to pay for it? I love this car and would probably pay mid-70's for it (I did pay $65,500 for a 550 with P2, wood trim, and parktronic), while someone else might not. Apparently a lot of people do think it's worth it considering that MB has surpassed each model year forecast from 2006.
Personally, I think you might be better off getting a Honda.
I wanted to ask you were you kidding but with you being in the phillipines i will give you a pass.. Great Car mine has 25k miles on it and I have not had a problem yet.. I bought it used and have owned it almost 1/2 a year.. go for it if it will not be a financial burden.

I dont own this car model, but I would have to say, that if your in the market for a vehicle in this price range and your worried about cost of repairs? The CLS is the type of vehicle designed to cator to a different market group from an average car for the point A to point B statement. If you own 23 other vehicles, I think you would be able to testify to the fact that there is no flawless auto. Your best bet is to buy used with warranty. The odds are that if some one is selling so soon, they are getting a newer model and it doesnt mean the car is in a bad condition. Good Luck with your purchase.

i agree with everyone else on this site. i find that every car is worth buying in different people perspective, depending on their financial level, and lifestyle, that will give you the answer to your question.
As for me, i drive my CLS 55 hard all the time, and abuse it whenever i am on the open road. But i agree with most people, when you start purchasing cars in the high 70's and above, the cost to repair shouldnt be an issue, but either way, MB here have 100K miles warranty, and anything goes wrong, i just turn the car in for repair.
But if this will put a burden in your finances, i would suggest looking into Lexus IS350 or BMW 335I. both with excellent power and very reliable brand or maybe even an Audi.
