Hi everyone. I just have a question to the American guys. I have been quoted at home in Australia around $8200 AUS for a set of wheels +tyres 20' 9 +11. The place I went to has sent me a selection to look at (via web) I do like some of them. Now the exchange rate at the moment is Aus $1.00 = US .85c. If I have added correctly this means my mags are costing the equilivant of US $ 6970.00.
In your opinion is this over the top or about right. They will be more expensive for me as they are imports and everything is more expensive in Aus. But 8200 ??
I hope this includes tyres as when we were first talking I mumbled 'I hope this aint gonna cost ten grand'. He said 'well the tyres are going to be $2000'. Thats 500 EACH (us$ 425.00). What do you guys reckon.
My goodness that is a lot to fork out for a set of rims that may or may come with tires. A good set of rims over can cost around 4-5k + tires. Or for as little as 1800 with tires already, but of course these type of rims are not the real thing. Don't know what the duties and taxes are when it gets imported to your country. I hope the price you got has all the taxes paid for already. Goodluck

It all depends. If you get wheels that have a 3 pisce construction, then that price range sounds correct. The one piece wheels are cheaper. My 21" Lowenhart 3 piece wheels cost me $8,500 U.S.
I also think the brand name makes the difference in price. Like Nike vs Payless
Thanks for your views. The selection the shop has given me are of a high quality. I feel that I am now not being ripped off too much. There are other places that will quote $3000 but they are the nasty looking Chinese made wheels. They just have a cheap unfinished look. I saw a guy with a black cls from a distance away with these wheels and it didn't look good. I would rather spend the extra and have a smooth looking car. Thanks again.
when you get your wheel, try to find a wheel shop in your area that can repair wheels. wheels with low tire profiles can be damaged from extreme impact, potholes ect.. I try to keep the tire pressure at 45, to avoid dammage.
does anyone else keep their tire pressure that high ?
this was recomended to me by my wheel repair tech.
