CLS 55 going straight pipe
i recently removed the rear set of resnator and replaced with straight pipe, sounds good but not loud enought, i been thinking of removing the first set of resnator also, however if you look under the car, there's a "X" pipe shape there, if i cut and go straight pipe, is the "X" factor important for balance? or it doesn't really matter? any expert out there?
i am getting a custom exhaust installed on my cls very soon. to be honest, i am not expert. i would bring the car to a trustworthy shop and let the guys there help you out. they will know whats going to be best for your car. i know straight pipe is not going to be the best for the car. people told me that the car needs back pressure or else you are going to lose power.

i need confirmation on this please....
i took my car to an exhaust place over the weekend. i was under the impression that the CLS 55 AMG have 2 sets of resnator. i removed the rear resnator set a few weeks ago. and i wanted to be louder. so i wanted them to remove the first set where the X pipe was, however they told me they cant ???
i used to have straight pipe in my 550 but i dont recommend first of all you lose a lot of power and it sounds terrible, when i first did it, it was okay but after a month it started to drive me crazy and i put my stock exhaust back. if you want to hear the sound go to you tube and type cls550 with custom exhaust my username is shuygurrr it might sound good to you but again i dont recommend it.
try using "H"-pipe instead and use performance mufflers - Remus, Magnaflows etc. If you go with straight pipes you will loose power due to not enough back pressure and might also throw engine codes!
