Far be it from me to critique another man's ride, but those wheels look too big for the car and it is lifted as a second order effect. If that's the look you are going for, then cool...

what does that mean? "lifted for a second order effect"
By the way, the car is no higher than stock......
I do feel it could be dropped in the front about .75"
Personally in person, the wheels look perfect for the rear but a tad big in the front....
I'm hoping the rake will fix the illusion

I ALWAYS used to drive in sport mode with the "Sport 2" setting for the suspension. I dont like soft, sluggish, sloppy rides. I dont mind feeling a bit of the road through my jeans.
With the 22's, I dropped the comfort level to "Sport 1" and quite honnestly I cant tell the difference between now and stock @ Sport 2. The rides are remarkably similar.
If you are a sludgy cloudlike lover that likes to be insulated from the tactile responsiveness of your car, you wouldnt like 22's.
Steering is a hair more firmer with the added width of the front wheels but nowhere near needing to be popeye to deal with it. I was parallel parking and did notice a hair more effort was needed to make the tight cuts.
One thing for sure, this car stops traffic and when I went to my local dealer to view the new CL550 that was being unloaded off the flatbed today, I swear to you, my car "stole" a large chunk of the unveiling hype. Both cars drew a crowd and I bet that the sales manager was happy when I left so their baby could recapture everyones attention.
Wheels look nice. Good job. I imagine it rides like a chariot though.
I guess I'm in the "sludgy cloudlike" camp. I like to hear my music and not the road. I want the ride to be smooth enough to stack dominoes on the dash. That's me. Everyone has different needs. The look, however, I give you props for! Really looks cool.

"lifted AS a second order effect" meaning you didn't deliberately lift the car but the it's kind of unavoidable when you add 2" of radius over the stock wheels. Take a measurement from the bottom of the rock panel to the ground and compare it to a stock CLS550, I find it hard to believe that your car like this doesn't ride at least .5 an inch higher than stock.
Lastly, you asked for opinions, if you only wanted positive opinions then you should have said so. In my opinion the car doesn't look "natural" with those wheels such as it would with a set of 20 inch wheels (I'm also not big on chrome but that's just a preference thing). It really shouldn't matter to you that I don't like the way it looks, it's your car so do whatever you want with it but if it really is that important to have affirmation that you made a good choice, then I'll finish by saying they look fantastic and I can't believe MB doesn't just ship 'em from the factory like that.
BTW, you really should consider a big brake kit to fill up the wheel space. There were a couple of good threads on this board with the Brembo kit info.
