Lets reserve this space for 21"s and 22's only please.
I'd love to see if theres a few styles that look better than the 21" Lowenhart LSR we have all seen!
If youre not sure if the pic you post is not a 20" it probably is so please don't post it! If you know the manufacturer and style please post it as well.
The first pic is an unknown 22" mounted on the silver car.
In the next pics are both 21", first being Forgiato Fia in 21" and second the Lowie...
I am having some custom 22" wheels made (Boze "Boost" staggered 9", 10.5") as seen in the third pic but will not be able to post them on for about the three weeks it'll take to make them.
The fourth, the Fia off the car!
I know most of you on here consider the 20" big enough for the W219 and anything bigger as "ghetto or gawdy". I would agree on a true coupe but I think this four door can handle (and honestly needs) a bigger wheel than a 20". If you look at the two cars in these pics, You can see that these wheels seem to be the "right" size for this bodystyle. I'm sure a simple styled 22" would look awesome as well. IMHO, the 20" is just too small in the 5 spoke styles I've seen mounted. If the wheel is busy like the Radenergie R-20 or a Mesh style in a high polish or chrome, then twenty works OK.
Remember not to always dismiss a wheel because of size alone! The style of the wheel makes a huge impact on what the mounted product will look like. If the wheel is busy or bright (high polish or chrome) it can look up to two inches bigger in diameter than it actually is. A five spoke, black (dark) or "riveted" style wheel with shorter spokes will "shrink" the look of a particular wheel like you wouldnt beleive. Make each opinion on a wheel by wheel basis and I'll bet youd be hugely suprised as to "what looks good on a CLS".
A quick FYI, a 22x11" will not work in the rear of CLS! It's been tried and just barely rubs. You must go with a 10.5" in the rear with 22's. The jury's still out in a 21" as to whether an 11" width is OK but know that both the Forgiato and Lowenhart both chose to do their 21" in 10.5" rears so I would assume thats what works.
Looking forward to your input!
Thanks guys.
