First Post! Did I get ripped?

Hi all.
I just purchased a 2007 CLS 550 and I have a problem I'd like to run by the experts here. It's a little complicated so bare with me please.

Saturday I went to the dealership to have a look around. I've been wanting a CLS.

On the showroom floor of the local MB dealership they had a used 2007 CLS 550. It had (and has) a "V8 Kompressor" badges on each side. It was marked $65,488. Wow, I thought, what a deal and only 3k miles on the clock. It has the P1 package only.

I negotiated a price of $62,988 plus tax and $45.00 doc fee and $20.00 tag fee.

After taking the car home I discovered the car is NOT supercharged. There is no supercharged model for 2007. I feel like I was duped.

The dealership agreed to take another 2k off the price or refund my money and take the car back.

So should I take the money, return the car, or invest more money to sue? Frankly I'm inclined to take the money.

I'll withhold the name of the dealership for now.

Thanks,
EmergencyDpt

I don't get it...a benz dealer already had a used 2007 CLS with Kompressor tags? Or was this a non-benz dealership? Either way it is F'ed up and I'd be pretty angry...I'd take it back...work a deal on a new one, or a leftover 2006 if they are to be had...

Not to sound like an ass......But the previous owner must have put the badges on there, as the only CLS with a supercharger is the CLS55 AMG.

Caveat Emptor. Should've done your homework.

If I were you I would definitely return the car and get every penny back. Sounds like that dealership cannot be trusted and don't buy any cars from them.

Adam, this is a MB dealer. I'm sure the prev owner put the tags on it. However, they let me purchase it without telling me. My real concern is: is $61K a good deal on an 07 with only the P1 package? Would getting a new 06 be more valuable in the long run than an 07? The car only has 3k miles on it. I am angry but I don't want to cut off my nose to give back a car that is actually a great deal (if it is).
Thanks,
EmergencyDpt

Did you ask if it had a supercharger, or did you just assume? I find it kind of shady that they at least didn't mention that the badges were put on by the previous owner, and let you know ahead of time.

MBenz1,
thanks for your reply.
I'm considering returning the car. My question is: Did I get a good deal, badges notwithstanding?
If the deal is good, the car is valuable. It looks like I paid significantly below dealer invoice on what is basically a new car. Could I sell it today for more than I paid? What do you think?
Thanks,
EmergencyDpt

Asianml,
I assumed a car badged "V8 Kompressor" was powered by a supercharged V8 engine. I discussed with the salesperson that the reason I was purchasing this car was that the supercharger made it a great deal. I doubt she knew a supercharger from a spare tire and thought, like I did, that the car was as it was badged.

Thanks,
EmergencyDpt
