my dad has recently bought a 2006 registration CLS 320 CDI and we have a few questions that the dealer isnt much help with
1, he was told it was TV ready but there are no functions for this, is more hardware required?
2, once entering SERVICES on the computer we have a "b.tooth" function. we can get it paired up with his nokia mobile phone but are unable to use it in any way. there is no mention of bluetooth anywhere in the manual, in fact it doesnt even show the function that is displayed on screen!! is it possible to use the phone through the car?
3, it's a 2006 car, why do mercedes insist on only hardwiring for out of date and obsolete mobile phones, are they mad?
You need the MB bluetooth adapter to get the car to work with a bluetooth phone (about £350 I think), though it only works with new SAP bluetooth phones (only some Nokia and Seimens at the mo.
Don't know about the TV. Did he pay for the TV tuner (optional extra) !
If he has the Command sat nav system, can play DVDs in the dvd slot at top of command unit. Also there is a hack elsewhere on the forum removing region code and allowing DVDs to play when the car is moving.
we thought as the phone already had the bluetooth option on the command system and the fact it will already pair with his phone that the system was operational. any idea which nokia phones are compatible?

That is not correct, while there are functions that are not available I was able to pair the vehicle with both a LG Chocolate and a Blackberry Pearl. I agree that mobile phone support is pretty weak compared to other vehicles, it doesn't require a special phone to work at all.
