I am picking up a new 07 CLS 550 next week. I was wondering if anyone know the passenger side mirror tilts down when put in reverse like all other MB models?
Thanks for your help.

It has instructions in the owner's manual telling you exactly how to set it up, but I haven't done it yet.
We had a CLS 320 CDI delivered 3 days ago and the first couple of times it did it...but has now stopped! How does the thing work? Do you need to do something specific to make it work...did look in the manual but couldnt find anything....weird!
Oh I know this one, I know this one.. When I had my lemon C class in 2001, this thing never worked right. It rolled down fine, but it went to some random position each time once gear is out of reverse. Imagine having to re-adjust the mirror every day. In my CLS, no problem.
There is s section for the rear view mirror on the page 187 of the manual.
(BUTTON 1 is the left mirror select button and the 2 is for the right mirror)
Quote:
-Make sure you have stored a parking
position for the passenger-side exterior
rear view mirror (page 129).
-Make sure the Mirror adjustment
parking aid function in the Convenience
submenu of the control system
is switched to on (page 166).
-Switch on the ignition (page 34).
-Press button2 for the passenger-side
exterior rear view mirror.
-Place the gear selector lever in reverse
gear R.
The passenger-side exterior rear view
mirror will be turned downward to the
stored position.
The exterior rear view mirror returns to its
previously stored driving position:
-ten seconds after you put the gear
selector lever out of position R
-immediately once you exceed a vehicle
speed of approx. 6 mph (10 km/h)
-immediately when you press button1
for driver’s side mirror.

1) Yes, this feature exists on the CLS (at least my wife's 06 500).
2) You turn it on by leaving the passenger side-mirror button pressed in (the one you select when you're adjusting the mirror positions). If it's in, the mirror tilts down when you shift into reverse. If the driver's side is instead pushed in, then no tilting of the passenger mirror.
Pretty simple, and works the same way in a number of other makes (Range Rovers, for example).
