Since my last post, I have added 3 new mods.
#1 Brabus trunk lid spoiler.
#2 Euro Command, for my music videos. I installed this myself and I owe a BIG THANKS to "Kevin M. the Mod Master".
#3 Custom Stereo with all JL Audio equipment.
Looks the biz sha.... looks like you have smoked rear lights can you post some picks of your car now. I know you have some stuff on the gallery but that was when you bought the car. And stop encouraging Kevin M he already has all the cars we all want along with the house and the wife... only joking... I think we all get lots of inspiration from Kev he is the man.
Picking up my CLS this week jus can not wait. dealer keeps telling me how great it looks but its 110 miles away I can not collect until the registration is done. which shouls be Tues/Weds this week... god its going to be long.
My question is this...how do you modify your audio system and still use the same factory head unit. Is there an adapter of some sort to power external amps. I would love to customize my audio but I dont want to screw up the factory head unit. Can you please explain how you set your system up. BTW That looks GREAT!! I am at work drooling!!
Good question. I had this question also when I was looking to upgrade my system. I wanted to keep the stock look on the inside.
There is something that does this job and it is called a "Clean Sweep" by JL Audio. You can find it here..... http://mobile.jlaudio.com/products_c...php?page_id=94
I was in the process of getting the Clean Sweep installed when I changed my mind. The reason I did not purchase it was, if you use the clean sweep you lose the volume controls on your steering wheel. Your installer will have to install a volume control for you. Most people get it installed in their ash tray.
I asked my installer how did he do it without the clean sweep and he said,"Ancient chinese secret". Seriously, that is what he said. LOL
He won't explain it to me. However my system sounds great. But, just to be honest, you can get even better sound with the Clean Sweep. I have posted a picture below of a CLS with ash tray volume control.

I picked the Rockford processor 360.2. It allows you to keep your factory control through the factory head unit. It actually takes up 6 channels of input and processes it into stereo outputs for your amps. It's also programmable via bluetooth device like a TREO phone. I will post pics when I finish.
Where did you have your stereo installed? Are you happy with the install? Was it expensive? I am thinking about having some subwoofers installed as well, but I am not sure who I should go with.
It sounds great and they were very detailed in customizing the trunk. His work is good and I don't think anyone can beat his prices. You can see some of his work at http://www.myspace.com/precisionautostereo
