Recently the Mercedes CLS class was named the best luxury car of the year by the world famous television show Top Gear. I am happy because this is the first car that i have owned in which top gear haven't criticised.[:0][:)]

RE: Top Gear Awards

The best car would be a CLS 4 matic.

I'm driving like a grand-father when it's raining unless I have room and I want to enjoy few slide.[8D]

Audi and porsche understood that a long time ago.

Other than that it's a fantactic car, with the most exiting design on the market (to me).

I agree with you nporet, what tyres have you fitted. Also you guys will not beleive me but i have fitted winter tyres onto the AMG 19's and the car is excellent through the snow. I pass 4x4's!

To Beejay

Are there many CLS's around the London area, I heard that a few months ago someone from Formula One "Ron Dennis" got his wheels stolen from his CLS. I am going down south in April for some shopping and hope this doesnt get done to me[:D]

If you are shopping in the West End of London, use Selfridges car park (just off Oxford St.) cos it's nice and central. Your wheels should be safe there but you will have to pay "Red Ken's" £8 congestion tax to enter central London by car. It's free if you arrive on a horse!!! What a Ludite of a Mayor !!!

Those winter tyres- I assume that they are not studded and there is no maximum speed restriction.

I've been thinking of getting some for when I go ski-ing in France because a new set of "Chains" cost a fortune with the MB label on them. What make are you using????

regards BJ

RE: Top Gear Awards

Thanks Beejay regarding your home town [:)] After reading my message again, people must get the perception that i think my wheels are the best around. I don't [:)][:D]

About the winter tyres i requested mine from http://www.mytyres.co.uk. I have continental conti-winter-contact 275/30 R19 on the rear and have Dunlop Wintersport 255/35 R19 on the front. I must say they work a charm and as you see i am using repetition![:)]

FAO Alex CLSMAN

Thanks for the winter tyre contact. I am looking into this.

Forgot to say that the CLS is still a pretty rare animal in London and the south-east, but bearing in mind the high UK cost price,It will stay that way for a year or so at least.! That's OK by me !!!

RE: Top Gear Awards

The rareness of the CLS is fine by me to Beejay[:D] I like to be one step ahead. In Aberdeen there is 2 black, 1 white, silver 55 AMG, 1 cubanite, and then theres mine.

nporet my car also came with p ZERO Pirellis standard and were also rubbish in wet. I will be putting the P ZERO's back on in April though for the summer[8D]

RE: Top Gear Awards

are you sure it's not 285/30/19 and not 275 in the back???

Also the Pzero are bad but also the fact that you have 285 size tires on water with the weight of the CLS and the torque doesn't Help.

I use to have an audi TT quattro and it was very hard to but the car out of the track... even on water.
with this car, the Pzero lasted 14000 kilometers...[V]
