CLS-500 Favorite options or least favorte $-Distronic-$

I have to ask this because I can still make some changes to ordered car in the next few days.

I ordered the wifes..for now, CLS-500 with these adds:
Premium Pkg
Bixeon-lighting pkg
distronic pkg
parktronic pkg
sirruis pkg
trim pkg
keyless go pkg

The one that I am considering removing is the distronic, quite a costs for it and living in SoCal not sure if its worth it? Lots of traffic here and probablly will not do a lot of long highway drives after newness where's off.. All others are a must. Not many left, though. Any input here might make me reconsider this option or add others. AMG pkg-out, is not what the wife likes..she prefers the car without it..so forget that one.

any and all comments would be very much appreciated..
Which options are you most happy with and use the most and which are maybe not worth the costs...in your opinions?
Also what is the Nappa leather option..not to sure what this option entails or looks like???..any photos with an ASH interior would be great.

Thanks ..again...Fernando

i dont know if distronic is worth it. As you said california traffic is very packed wherever you go, and you wont have much use for it.

However, you could experiment with it if you life electronics.

nappa leather. It is just a comfortable, more expensive and delicate leather. I had it in my S600, and it really doesnt seem like it can stand everyday use.

hope this helps. You may want to consider some expert advice from someone with a CLS, but i am just trying to help.

Good Luck, and Welcome to BenzWorld loaner![:)]

Thanks for your opinions....I think your right on this and the MBZ salesman even said that Distronic is seldom added to any MBZ that comes into SoCal...just because of the driving patterns here..and all the traffic probelms.

We have requested this option be removed and added instead the "hands free" pkg....The wife and I checked out the MBUSA.COM website and they have some pretty decient interactive tutorials online.
This was very helpful in the decision to remove Distrinoc and add the hands free.
Were done with the adds...If your in the process of deciding what options to get, I suggest you ck out the mbusa.com website and look for the interactive options links...pretty cool stuff.

Think I agree with you all about omitting Distronic from your new cls specification.

Unless you are inclined to drive and sleep at the same time, the device seems pointless.

I believe there was a "Top Gear", (Clarkson) programme on TV recently which put Distronic to the test. Sadly, it failed to work and the test car ploughed into the vehicle in front.

This is not what MB had in mind!!!!!!!

Hi asianml

Thanks. You're right. It must have been the W221 S class, but I guess the system will be the same accross the MB model range ??

I don't think so. The W221 Distronic actually is helpful in stop and go traffic, because it bring the car to a complete stop.

As for the failed test, that was a hoax. So whatever you heard about that, it's false.

yup. The CLS is in the same price range as the S and CL, so naturally it would have the same kind of options.

Hi asianml

If that failed distronic test on TV was a hoax, I take back what I said.

That's pretty sick humour and it certainly fooled me!

Did anyone apologise afterwards???

Well, it's not that kind of hoax you would expect. Here's an article on it.
