well a friend has just picked up his BLack on Black AMG CLS the other day and he chucked me the keys and said "dissapear for an hour" SO I DID!!! What a car.... Blistering performance, great handling... I want one... (but not instead of my trusty W140... as well as) This thing is an absloute weapon, and only comparable to one other car i've driven. The Audi RS6.
I got back in the S500 and despite feeling slightly more sluggish than usual (LOL) it still felt more solid and majestic.
Driving a 2005 E500 gives a similar feeling, but nothing compared to the AMGs. Although the new Mercs are fast, they still do not stack up against the W140s.....
c140V8: While working on Monday I heard a radio news item of a CLS55 being impounded up your way (North Island) for 28days under a charge of "Losing traction for a sustained period".
Were you the driver? (LOL![8D])
no It wasn't me driving that one, I think there would be no more then about 5 55's in the north island though. I kept the esp turned on the whole time as it wasn't my car to lose control of... LOL
We're in palmerston North, there are two here, both Black 55's. The one that was impounded was in new plymouth (about three hours drive) and aparantly he wasn;t even driving at the time, they just stopped him and said he was seen racing and skidding it earlier and they were impounding the car. I imagain he has a fair bit of tin and hence a good lawyer to get the car back before the 28 days is up.
The laws in New Zealand are very strict when it comes to racing and speeding.
I once sped away from some traffic lights in a company car, (beetle turbo 2001) along side some young kids and was stopped by police where they arrested me and impounded my company car for 28 days.
My lawyer got the car back after three days on the basis that it belonged to my company and would that their business would be affected by not having the car. Very embarrassing for me though, arriving at work withought my car.
Subsequently, the charge was dropped. One thing i learnt is that you never help the police with their inquiries and always have your lawyer present before you even open your mouth... in fact your first words should be "I want to speak to my lawyer".
In some was this was related to the W140... as I said in my first post... It was fantastic.... but my W140 is SUPREME!
