I got my car replaced at no extra cost, and ended up with more options than the one I originally purchased,I had close to 7,000 miles, car was delivered in 1 week, and they threw in a free maintanence package at no extra cost, for my aggrevation. The key here was calling the mercedes headquarters and making the complaint,I was told taht after 3 times with the same problem ,they take action.
HERE IS THE INFORMATION AT MERCEDES HEADQUARTERS.
M/B CUSTOMER RELATIONS 1-800-367-6372,CONTACT NAMES ARE MS.CLARK,AND GREG,THEY WILL DOCUMENT YOUR COMPLAIN,LISTEN TO YOUR PROBLEM,AND CONTACT THE REGIONAL OFFICE IN YOUR AREA,KEY HERE IS TO BE FORCEFUL,AND DEMANDING,BUT MAKE SURE YOU HAVE DATES OF THE PROBLEMS YOUV'E HAD,EVEN THOUGH,AS YOUR SPEAKING TO THEM THEY ARE LOOKING AT YOUR PROFILE OF VISITS TO THE DEALER.
Thanks for the help guys. I take it that no one has ever had this tranmission problem that was corrected by work done at the dealership? I am happy with the car otherwise, but don't know if I can last through much more time in the shop. THANKS
Just as I was told by the others with CLS500 transmission problems, on the second visit to the dealership (this time for 9 days), they replaced the transmission valve cover pan/control module. The car drove great for one week and then resumed the same jerk with downshifting that it had previously. Now the plan is to replace the transmission after more diagnostic testing. I have registered my second complaint with MBUSA. I am not happy about having a new transmission installed in a car of this caliber when it was defective from day one. The saga continues.

Despite numerous calls to MBUSA, I have never received a reply, other than to say that things are going to be taken care of on a local level. However, my CLS500 with 1600 miles is supposed to get a new transmission this week. Hopefully, that will take care of the problem, although some of the above posts seem to indicate that it won't help.
