final choice of cl63 look - mods

here is what my car will finally look like after delivery in late november.

White CL63
Black interior
Lorinser fenders
21" HRE 944R w/white spokes, black flange and polished lip.
Red Calipers
Expressions wing
Complete de-chrome
smoked lighting and windows
blacked out front grill

Everything looks good, but i'd reconsider the Expressions rear wing...looks tacky. I beleive Brabus has a nice one?

that was just a PS mock up for the wing.

Trust me, Expressions makes some of the best looking kits out there, very understated and contoured.

Go to Expressions site and look at their kits, they are unreal....Note the SLK-C kit!

This was the Expressions kit on my CLS I modified last year. As you can see, the car retained it's class while still showing it's ability to be as exotic as an CLS63. The contour of the rear wing follows the graceful lines of the car so smoothly that it looks oem. All tapers are correct.

The wing I'm using on the CL63 is the CLS wing, which, incedently fits perfectly.

Personally, I think the Brabus and Carllson lips look silly the way they hang down the side of the car, if I was going to consider a lip, I'd simply just do the Lorinser which, at least, got the width right to stop at the trunks edge. With the Lorinser fender kit, the car needs major modification on the ass end to balance the fender accenting. I felt a simple lip would be a too subtle making the car still look a bit too front heavy. JMHO after a great deal of thought and hours of PS experimentation.

Yes, i've seen them, and if you asking my opinion, i STILL think the rear wing is tacky. Their wings are purely cosmetic (most likely introduces drag without increasing downforce), and not that great looking anyway. Trunk lips decrease drag.

cmon, are you really trying to tell me that a lip will make any difference in street driving.

Even on the track the effect is going to be minimal. You have to drive 150-200 for a lip to really have any effect.

This is all about cosmetic and getting a car to look a bit more aggressive.

I appreciate you dont like the wing but please dont go so far as to quote scientific drag coefficients as the reason.

Lowering may be the only actual mod we can do that actually improves handling. Just trying to keep it real and not let us get too full of ourselves
