If your car is parked outside, the engine is dead cold and the outside temp is below 20 degrees, do you guys start the engine and let it run before moving the car. I usually keep it running till it reaches the first quarter after the 40 mark.
Is this good practice or should i just start moving it?
Any suggestions on this would be great.

Letting your car idle for too long is not a good practice in any temperature. In newer cars or older cars that are still in good shape, let it run for about 15 seconds before heading off. Just keep an eye on the rpm and if it moves down after about 15 secs you're good to go. However, this is not possible on older cars that die instantly if you take it out too soon. I have to warm up my 1991 Mercury Topaz for about a minute or it will die right after I head out into the street.
