Last couple of weeks, anytime I hit a major bump on the highway, or a speed bump at lower speeds, the red ABC light flashes for a split second. Never used to do this. What could the problem be? Checked the fluid, it was a bit low so I added some, still does the same thing.
My 2000 CL500 does the exact same thing. My Indy said the code was Low Pressure in the rear sensor. We have swapped out the Rear Valve Block with the sensor. And now both rear struts. One of the Stuts was leaking a little. Its still doing it. Not as bad but its annoying. SDS says my Pump is at 90% pressure. My car has 111K miles now. And other than this "Chime" on bumps the car is in great shape. I was going to let my very qualified Indy play with it some more but so far all we have done is throw about $ 2500 bucks at it with no luck. So be careful. Dont just throw money at it.

Low profile custom rims usually have low profile tires, which dont "give" as much.
It makes the computer think there is something wrong when you hit a hard bump. Because it "jars" the sensor, instead of floating.
No custom tires, you have a pressure problem, like the fluid is worn out.

5. I am trying to tell you how to fix your Mercedes, and you're not listening.
Stock Tires and Wheels. ABC Fluid has been changed recently. This is not an uncommon problem either. And it was a problem that happened on rare occasions in my car. A certain dip on the 133 would always do it. I thought it was the seatbelt sensor because the ABC warning is so fast you never see it unless your looking for it. Then one day it got so bad it did it on every little bump. You could tell the pressure was low in the back. After the valve block it got about 50% better. Then after the struts another 25% better. But it still does it over railroad tracks and big swails on the freeway.
I have the stock Brabus 17's with relatively meaty tires, so I doubt that has anything to do with it. I have a local Indy I may ask about it when I take it to get my oil changed next time. I also have some sort vibration at certain RPM, I am thinking maybe trans mount. Guess I will just have to get it inspected to see if the shop finds anything.
133 heading eastbound. Ramp that connects to Northbound 5. There is an expansion joint in the freeway ramp as you get about a 1/4 into the turn. Bingo. It changes height and direction. My Indy said he has a couple other clients that mentioned this exact spot and the same symptoms in other CL`s.

Thanks for the replies.
Watch out with that vibration. Could be just a dampner. But thats how my ABC pump started going out. Impellar Vibration. Within a week it was gone. New one has lasted almost 7 years and 75K miles. The early pumps had some issues.

The first Expansion Joint. Where the pavement goes to Concrete from Asphalt. It did the chime there for at least a year. But only on that spot. I commute to Orange daily. Now its doing it maybe 4-5 times on the freeway to work and back. Almost never on the streets. It does still feeel a little lose in the rear on the freeway. It seems to be happy in Standard rather than Sport mode on the ABC Setting. Indy says "ABC BAR" readings are good. Fluid looks clean and no leaks. Indy is Johnson Motors in Orange.
