Still traveling on this journey to find the best CL, I have stumbled upon an 2003 CL600. I have all the information for the extended warranty, regardless of the vehicle i purchase. My question is how reliable are these cars, they are twin turbo, and alot more "car" then the 500. Are the problems the same, or should I be looking for something different? If I do buy this car, obviously put it on a bumper to bumper warranty and take it for a pre-purchase inspection, what else should I be aware of? The car has 35K, and I dont want to spend most my time in the shop, even though the costs would be covered under warranty.

Today I found a nearby 2002 CL600 (badged as an AMG so somebody was a poser) with 60,000 miles (2 owner, clean CarFax). I was about to start a new thread until I saw yours, so since these cars are so similar I'd like to ask the same questions. What should we both be aware of please?
The only thing I think I know was already mentioned by m&alaw and that a warranty is a must for any of the 12-bangers.

I Don't recall a 600 being a turbo ALSO, but just a V12. Basic thing with that car that you would be needing to worry about is the Ignition system I believe. Do a search on that. Yes, it does have alot more Umph then the 500. but its a V12, would you expect less. The W215 seams to have alot of little stuff going on with it. Mine has had a bad door Vacuum problem which my warranty covered(1600) and now my driver side of the car is sagging while parked and I'm having a little bit of an issue getting them to take care of THAT. Other then That, its a sexy beast, I love it. And in the right color combo and customizing to your likings, you will be satisfied. But remember, with a Diva, comes High Maintenance.

Like I said, their will be problems, even a warranty may not cover everything. Just make sure she's well taken care of, and get it inspected before purchasing. 110 bucks to inspect her is well worth it if you ask me. Take it to the MB dealer and have them run through it. Try and get a Mercury warranty, best from what Ive heard. My company is pretty good too, just they hassle me ALOT so far(wheelz)
Also, If I was you, I'd get the V12 also. 500 is slowwww lolol. But its White on Black......

Nice looking CL500 Goliath27, and thank you for the information. I've heard other good things on here about Mercury, so if I get more serious about that car, I'll surely take your advice.
By the way, I used to get up to Cleveland some (300 miles); I had a Porsche 911 and used to use Stoddard's in Willoughby for service.
