I recently got the windows on my CL tinted and the back window (rear windshied) is very purple. The guy that did the tint said this effect is because of the Benz glass. Has anyone else had this problem? Should I use a different tint film?
Yes, I have heard of this.. When I had mine done here in Florida the guy told me that what he had used on my 2006 GTO would not work as well on my benz. He said the tint he would recommend would be reflective.. Like a mirror. I will have to post pics of my car. It looks very cool with the reflective tint rather than the smoked limo tint. Im glad he recommended it even though at the time I figured he was sticking me for an extra $100. Since then I have heard several people with your particular situation.

interesting because I also used a mirror type film rather then the usual smoke black tint. Please post some pictures when you get a chance.
I did see another white CL on the street today with the same thing...rear purple windshield..i dunno
Simple explanation; the front windshield as well as the rear glass have a fine layer of silver (real sterling silver) laminated into the glass. This will help reduce glare and assist in reducing harmful UV rays by 95%. That explains why our beautiful leather dashes do not shrink (besides, I maintain mine with leather conditioner). The side effect is that some tinting will be off color. The glass is a true masterpiece. Imagine; a layer of silver so thin you can see through it ! You will find this info in all CL brochures.

I have the same problem with the rear view tinting in my S55. Its mainly noticeable with polarized sunglasses (since the tinting is only 35%).
A guy at the body shop noticed it and called his tinting specialist, who confirmed that Mercedes windows cause that effect (on some models), the only way to fix it would be to exchange the window itself.
