** Switched 12V Remote Power On in Trunk **

Anyone know of a 12v switched power lead in the trunk on CL500?

I can run one to the trunk from the cigarette lighter but I can not figure out how to get wire through the back seats into the trunk. Has anyone attempted this?

Thank you

Got it!

I got the wire through the back seat into the trunk... I ran the wire from the cigarette lighter under the carpet on the driver side then up on the drivers side left seat pushing it under the rear seat then up and under the plastic trim in the back window. Right where the rear window meets the rear deck in the corner is what looks like a speaker cover. Using a screw driver I popped it up and although there is no speaker there is a small hole. I taped my 12v lead to a wire coat hanger and snaked it right through into the left side of the trunk. You will have to pull down the the carpeting that covers the rear deck inside the trunk after removing the carpeting on the left side panel first. Once you pull down the carpeting on the rear deck you will see where your wire comes out.

The reason I needed a 12v remote power lead in the trunk was because I added (3) 10" JL audio pro's to the trunk along with an Alpine amp to power them. I split off the factory amp using a hi-to-low level converter. Additionally I used the same hole through the rear deck to run my antenna wire for my Sirius satellite radio as well.

Ok. Thats whats up. I'm not electronically knowledge when it comes to installs so I'm not touching anything!

Incidentally, I thinking of having Sirius radio installed in my car too. I also need something other than that crap they sell in stores to play my Ipod. You got info on a system that you can automatically hook your Ipod into??

Dice Electronics D2B

I just ordered the (DICE ELECTRONICS D2B IPOD ADAPTER FOR MERCEDES BENZ ) from AutoToys.com . I previously bought the Gateway 500 system from them for my CLK and was unable to the get it to work properly and had to send it back. However, the technical support department there was unmatched to any other company I have dealt with for car audio and the allowed me to return the item for a full refund.

The DICE unit is the updated version of the Dension Gateway from what I was told. I have searched the internet and there is no where else cheaper then Autotoys for this unit. It will allow you to control and power your IPOD, it will show song text info on your Comand, and it will also give you an additional AUX in that you can connect to your Sirius radio instead of using the crappy FM transmitter built the radios. I will be away next week but when I return I will install the DICE unit, include photos and and evaluation.

Did you ever get your Dice unit installed??? Are you sure it shows song text??? I don't think any of the D2b Ipod solutions show Song Text. I could be wrong.

Hi people,
it's my first ever post on the W215 forum even if I am not a newbie here as you all can see in my profile.

I have a silver 2003 CL 500 and since I was wondering about the Dension500 I asked Dension some infos.
Well they told me that:

1) You can retain the CD changer functionality.

2) It's not possible to display song information on a D2B head unit.

In my case, since I have the AUX input in the passenger storage box I plugged the Ipod there and bought a RF remote off Ebay like this one (LINK) for my Ipod mini and put the remote around the Shiftknob.

It works like a dream and only spending a few bucks. Next step will be having a couple of cigarette lighter plugs in teh storage compartment but I will have to figure out how since I want it to be switched.

Hope this helped.

Cheers.
