Hi owners of the superb CL class. May I please find out from all of you whether you find any paint problems or rust issues with your car? I have been reading from other forums and there seem to be quite a number of dis-gruntled CL class and S Class owners around the Year 2000 models complaining about poor paint quality (e.g. easy chipping, scratching, rust spots) etc as well as how MB don't seem to care about it. Please share your views as I'm seeking to getting a CL500 or CL55. Thanks very much.

I have a 2000 CL and have noticed some small bubbles on the bottom of the doors, I'm waiting to get this completed through the Mercedes paint warranty. I had read about the same problem with owner of a 2002 CL in the same place. I will let you know what happens and how good the paint job is when complete. When buying look at the bottom of the doors and under the wheel arches, this seems to be the area's to watch out for. This has not stopped me loving my CL, it's a joy to drive each day and By the way I live in the UK (Scotland)

I have had my 2002 CL500 for 12 months. Couple of complaints:
1. Stone chips very easily on the bonnet (even more noticeable when the colour's darker)
2. A very small bubbly patch under the driver's wing mirror, although this hasn't grown or broken open.
Other than that the car is superb. Great colour, beautiful when polished. I have a mild paint scaling on the plastic front bumpers at the sides, however think that was more to do with me being a little too aggressive with the wrong brush when I washed it the first couple of times.
Oh and it's FAST - maybe why it stone chips so easily...

this is my first B service, should I take it to MB dealer or an outside shop that works on these cars and anybody know what is average price of B service? A service was taken to outside shop they did good job and charged me $500.00 OH yea car easily chips and scratches. but I got passed that after a couple years.
