I know this question has been asked before but I am after an update from the owners out there. Which one would you buy and why?
I am UK based and planning to buy either a CL55 or CL600. I like both, but am used to a reasonably reliable Lexus GS430 and don't want to be arguing with the dealer every five minutes.
Are the problems reported on this forum with the CL600 really that widespread or would it I be as likely to get a nice reliable supercar with minimal ad-hoc trips to the dealers?
Also, has there been a UK or US recall for the oil cooler seal?
The CL is not great in terms of reliability. It will be no where nearly as dependable as a Lexus but then again it's not a boring uneventful car like a Lexus.
I'd go for the 600 since it's easily upgradeable to supercar performance with just an ECU/TCU tune. It will take 5x the money to get the CL55 anywhere near the performance of a CL600 bi-turbo with just an ECU reflash. Not to mention, the V12 is sooo smooth.
