What the new CL should have looked like

As you will see after the jump, Mercedes was on the right track when they were designing the new CL-Class. What happened?!?

All I can say is, this is why I just bought a new CL 500 two days ago. With the new design, I'm sure I'll stay content for at least 4 more years.

That would be way too easy for Mercedes....after another 10 years --maybe.
Look at how long(7 years) the 2000 to 2006 took to finally get redone.And the previous CL was even longer.
The company is at the top of it's game for a reason:changes are made tech-wise first on the CL then they filter down to the other models. THe outside changes only AFTER the remaining models get upgrades.
Personally I'll stick to my current CL, it may be a touch smaller than the replacement but it's better looking . I think Mercedes was looking to balance out the CL 600 size/power vs. it's only 2 door competition--the Bentley Cont GT and in that regard it has won my vote. The Bentley is far inferior when matched up against the new CL and in someways against the previous model. My next door neighbor has the GT and my CL gets the final ok after a good look around at the VW GT 12 cyl engine and the tacky plastic grille and lower grilles(They pop out all the time)
