i am getting a 2001 cl600 this weekend and this car does not have the sport package. i like the amg ground effect alot. are there any difference between the different model year amg bumpers? also can a post-2003 bumper fit a 2001? i am also considering the WALD kit but i dont like the side skirts. also what else is different besides the tail lights from a 2001 to a 2003? i also want to get some 19" or 20" wheels with wide lips, have you guys notice any ride quality problems? what off set should i look for? what do you think of the cheap wheels on ebay? less the $1k for 20". thanks in advance.
Hi there, I just baught a 2001 cl600 myself and I updated the look to the current one by changing the tail lights, the head lights and the mirrors... the only other difference I have noticed is the bumper but the difference is not worth buying the new one.
how sure are you about that? someone recommanded getting the 03 bumper for the 01 w215 because it's better looking. please let me know because i was about to order the bumper before your post.
Lorinser has two different bumpers which look almost identical for this chassis in that the front end was facelifted for 2003 models. There is one that will fit all C215 CL-Class cars with a production date of 08/02 and earlier, and a different one to fit cars with production date of 09/02 and later (2003 and newer model year cars).
The '03 AMG bumper should fit nicely on a 00-02 CL. It'll cost you a bundle but I had my done. Especially mine is a 2000 CL500 without the AMG and was able to put on the 03 AMG bumper on both the front and back. They had to replace the reinforcing bar. Again it is not worth the money, because you can't hardly tell the different between '00 and '03 front end. The '03 is about 2" lowered. Good luck.

The updated Bumper will fit the earlier CL's however you will have to buy all of the trim molding pieces the bumper support and bumper reinforcement and if you have the parktronic, the smaller rubber o-rings. It can be done, however it costs about 3000.00 with all of the parts and painting. This cost is for the front bumper only, it does not include the sides or back.
