Learning to Drive my new CL55

Hi all,

I am new to this forum. Just bought a 2001 CL55 with 19,750 miles on it. Seems to be in pretty perfect condition. This is, without a doubt, the finest and fastest automobile I have ever owned. I would love to take it out on a track somewhere and really open it up. Does anyone race this car? Where and what class? Suggestions for a school to teach me high performance driving without killing myself. I live in the San Fransisco Bay area (Danville).
Regards,

Michael

RE: Learning to Drive my new CL55

I don't race but have a number fo friends that have been to the Bob Bondurant school. They recommend it highly.
If you want to drive your own vehicle, there are driving courses at Willow Springs.
I don't have the web addresses, but a google search should get you there.
As fast and predictably handling as this car is, it may be too heavy for any kind of serious racing.
I'd really like to know about it if you find out otherwise.

There is nothing more rewarding than drifting the hell out of a HUGE car like the CL,..... it leaves all the Rice rockets feeling inadequate. DRIFT BABY DRIFT!!!!!

Thats what these monsters are made for!

I totally agree with Storm.
If anyone is familiar with the L.A. area: Angeles Forest Hiway and the CL55, it doesn't get any better.
My question is, are there locations and/or classifications that these vehicles are raced? I know these exist for Audi TT's, Porsches and the like. Is anyone, by that I mean private owners, racing their CL's?
