Activating the "HOLD" function
Has anyone had luck activating the "HOLD" function on the new E? I just purchased my vehicle last week (love it btw), and I can't figure out how to activate this feature, even after reading about it in the manual. Is this an option that I have to have or does it come standard with the vehichle? The intermittent hill assist works fine, but I can't get the longer hold funtion to work. Thoughts?
I logged on to ask the exact same question. I can make it work intermittently, but can't figure out exactly what does it. I have an E550 Coupe and pulled out the window sticker to make sure it was listed as i couldn't make it work. What i have found is that I can engage it more consistently if i switch from Drive to Neutral while increasing the brake pressure and then switch back. But it only works about 30% of the time doing that.
If your vehicles are fitted with ABR then using this function is quite straight forward. It only works when the car is in the D drive position, simply push the brake pedal a little harder than normal and the HOLD light should com on in the instrument cluster. To release it simply tap the brake pedal or simply drive away and the light goes out.

You are right. Works great now. I don't think I was pushing the pedal in fast enough. I was applying a lot of pressure, but was pressing the pedal in rather slowly waiting for it to engage. This morning, i went out there and just pushed it in like applying the parking brake and it was easy to engage. Thanks for the tip.

Keep in D. You basically need to doubletap (doubleclick) the brakepedal. Brake like you would usually do to stop the car, then give it a quick second tap and the HOLD function will light up.
I also have a 2010 E350, what is the "HOLD" function? Can someone tell me what that does? I had never heard of it.
Thank You
As has been posted above to activate it. It acts as a sort of park brake when sitting at lights etc simply push your brake a little harder like putting on a park brake and a light will appear on the dash saying hold. The car is still in Drive but will not move, and you do not need to hold the brake pedal, to make the car move simply push the gas pedal.
