2004 S55 - Any information/guidance on motor mount replacement?

Hello all

The car was beginning to get very annoying to drive with a constant humming, hard suspension and general vibrations.

Just changed the Pulsation Damper a few days ago and what a difference that has made. The humming has gone and the suspension is feeling soft again. But the vibrations are still there.

Had it checked and sure enough the motor mounts seem to have failed. Was looking at replacing these but theres very very little information on how to go about changing them, just that the left one seems to be harder than the right one.

Has anyone got any clearer information on how to go about doing it?

Im a DIY mechanic and my friend is a full time mechanic so we're sure we can do this, but just need a few pointers. Will also replace the tranny mount at the same time i think.

Any help would be mostly appreciated.

I wish I could offer some better advice on how to do it, the only thing I can say is what an enormous difference you will notice when it is done. Be sure to do the tranny mount as you mentioned at the same time. Had mine done while ago now on my E55, and I hardly recognized the car!

Im hoping the difference will be big enough to notice, and big enough to stop these annoying vibrations at idle.

The Pulsation Damper has already made such a massive difference that it already feels like a different car, im hoping the mounts will make it feel near new again.

I will be interested to hear your thoughts after you replace them. My only advice would be to not skimp, and use the proper MB parts. I switched mine somewhere between 80-100k miles and was shocked at how quiet, and smooth the car felt. Until then, I didn't realize that my car was riding as rough as it was, and thought my tires were crappy, it was probably the single biggest difference that has been made to my car. It was instantly quieter, and smooth as silk.
