Do I need to do anything with my FOB to keep it from dying? Does it have batteries? Do they charge if I put the key in the dash instead of leaving it in my pocket and using the push-button start?
The batteries do not charge when putting them in the ignition. They need replacing. I've heard they only last about a year but in my experience, they lasted longer than that. The first time I changed the batteries on my '08 ML was just last week, if that gives you any indication. Hope this helps.

Thanks Vegeta, I'll just keep using it until it dies. Did you have to pay some exorbitant amount to have it reprogrammed when you replaced the batteries?
