This is a 14K CPO car that I've only owned for a few months. It was spotlessly clean when new but the nav screen had smudges on it. Upon cleaning it for the first time it revealed a scuff patch of scratches in the lower left hand corner of the screen. I think this may have been concealed with armorall when I bought it.
I have an Acura with 200K on it and the screen looks brand new. Is this a defective finish? Has anyone else experienced these type of scratches.
My screen was also scratched on used '08, but worse. It's the anti-reflective coating coming off. I've noticed it on numerous screens on other used mercedes on the lot. Checked with 3 stealers and they all say nothing can be done. Mine wasn't noticeable after on for awhile but bothered me when off. I solved the problem to my satisfaction by lightly polishing all the coating off using a extra fine steel wool pad. Stealers said it was due to mis-use and therefore not covered under warrantee. I find no negative effects from removing it.
I used windex and about 25 minutes of gently rubbing the screen until the anti glare coating was fully removed. I was going to leave it alone because I thought it looked fine.
I installed a Nu-screen film on it anyway. It looks factory finished.
and can be cleaned with windex in the future.
It can be purchased at Nushield - Best Quality Screen Protectors. about $30 with shipping. It is shinier than stock but looks pretty slick when installed properly. Make sure there is no dust on the screen before applying the film and that ALL of the anti glare has been cleaned off first.
