Can anyone explain to me how the pano roof works? I'm looking at a car (over the internet) that has one and it sure looks nice. I like the contrast of a white car with the black pano roof. I've seen pictures of the inside, but am concern on how the roof functions.
Does it have a tilt feature like a standard sunroof?
There is 3 sections to the pano roof. first one works like a wind deflector and opens at an angle (you wont see this portion from inside if you look up), second one over the driver works just like normal sunroof tilts and also slides underneath the 3rd section at the rear. 3rd section over the back seat is stationary, doesn't do anything except makes the car feel like it has more head room, and in MB E350 it also have sun shade that scrolls into between 2nd and 3rd section and when closed it is like a headliner.

The panel over the front seats slides back and over the third section in the rear. I had an E55 with the pano roof and now have an S550 with the pano and both slide over the top of the 3rd panel.

I agree that's how mine functions as well. The sunroof directly over your head actually slides over the second outside the vehicle.

Do both front & rear panels open?
Where do the glass panels go when open?
Pictures would be great!
Thanks in advance,

That is correct. However, that is one option I would not get again due to the extra weight VS the standard sunroof and the fact that you have to open both front and rear shades together completely before you can even tilt the roof open. I always liked having the shade manually controlled VS it being "rolled up" electrically before you can do anything else with the roof panel.
