Dumb question, but as I did not get a owners manual with my car, how does one set the time on the clock in the dash / speedo unit. Mine is about an hour fast?

I need help please. Earlier this week I lost the instrument cluster on my car completly. Nothing was working on it. Merc said that it has to be replaced. From reading on here I read that the batteries should be dis and re connected and I did that and it worked. Now I have the problem that the clock is stuck at the same time since the cluster stopped working. The sync with the headunit is ON and I can even see the right time and date on the setting menu of the cluster however the clock dials are not moving or changing. Is there some sort of initialisation that needs to be done when the battery was reconnected so the clock works? Also the back light on the cluster is not working, the lights on the speed dials and rev counter and clock are working but not the back light of the cluster. Not sure where the problem is. It possible that the clock and light problems are linked together? Please help with this matter as the dealer's suggestion is only to replace the whole cluster at a cost of £1000!!. Thanks guys

The typical dealer answer is to replace the cluster and they cost the same here in the US. I went through that for a different reason but fortunately was under warranty..
For future reference you have a W211 and there is a forum for those under the sedans section. I don't know about the analog clock other than to say I doubt there is any initialisation required. Your instrument cluster has light bulbs you can replace.
Call MB in the UK and buy an owner's manual. It might not cover what you're asking but you need to have one.

Thanks for the reply..with regards to the light issue I dont think its a bulb like the W210. I think the light is actually built into the cluster circuit. Thanks.
