how to turn off child safety locks

How do you deactivate the child safety locks? is it through command, or does it have to do with the space in the door above the closing mechanism?

all i have ever done this in is a buick and a chevy blazer.....

question relates to a 2004 e55 amg

thanks

Thank you for sharing useful information. The child safety lock is just a button by the window switches. Push the button to disengage the child lock. It may or may not illuminate when it is engaged (I forget).
