Resonator removal

Yesterday, I stopped by the muffler shop and had this guy remove the resonator, he did the straight pipe for me.
The sound is louder but it is not what I expected. It sounds like a muscle car when I floor it. Is that bad ?
And when he put the pipe on it, I ask him do you put that outside the cut or inside. He said stick it inside and weld it.
Is that correct ? Or it has to be outside? I really dunno.

This is after removed. Does the engine idle looks ok to you?

Buy stainless steel X-pipe, Go back to shop and replace the straight pipes with X-pipes. You will pick up more HP as well as improve sound quality. replacing resonator with straight pipes gives you louder more unrefined sound. X-pipe helps cancel out alot of the pulses giving you a much cleaner more refined european sound. check ebay for well priced X-pipes

Is it just me or is your car just stupidly clean underneath? Nice job and thanks for the post...and reply (Dr. C36)!

I am going to look at X-pipes for my E55 right now, headers will have to wait a few months but maybe this will keep me happy for now.
