I recently took a job in the UK and shipped my pride & joy - an E55 AMG - fully optioned. As it is a US spec car, and I will likely return to the US in a couple of years, I do not want to make any major changes to the car. A key requirement for UK registration is to adjust the lights so there is no glare to oncoming traffic. Can anyone confirm whether theses Xenons can be adjusted easily? The local MB dealer in the UK suggests that I might have to buy new lights - an expensive option.
Thanks

You Will need to purchase a set of UK or Japan spec headlights
as the Cut off pattern is what they are looking at..and the Drivers side USA headlight will blind a UK driver
Buy a set of UK Lights then resell them when you move
Try MBENZNL.com for the headlights Steve might be able to help you with a used set
Thanks Mark,
I just received an update including pictures from a manual that "suggest" there is a lever that allows the light pattern to be symetrical (flattened) while you drive on the opposite side. I have sent these on to my UK dealer and will be taking the car in next week to see if they can in fact do so without having to buy a new set of headlights. Will let you know what I find.
Well, I had to fork out quite a lot of money to get the headlights replaced. This plus a couple of other items noted in the SVA (private import) test were completed and the car is now official for UK roads. I did have to install a front number plate which just took away from the clean lines (without the plate). Oh well. So if I decide to leave / sell the car when I return to the US, I will have a pair of perfect condition US spec Bi-Xenon headlights.
